It's All Coming Together

We are finally finished with our filming! Today didn't take as long to film because we knew what we were doing. Last time, we were experimenting with different camera angles, shots, and overall figuring out what works best for our commercial. Also, there were more obstacles we had to face, like laughing and other groups.

We only had three shots to film this time because we got most of our filming completed the first day. Today was mostly about fine tuning and figuring out if we need to add more shots to our commercial or reshoot scenes. We ended up adding a scene to make the story of our commercial flow better. After the boy hand the girl her pencil, they are supposed to have a spark. However, when Adrian and I looked at the scenes together, we realized the moment felt rushed. The audience couldn't really feel the boy and girl's connection because the moment was too brief. As a result, we added a tracking shot of the boy walking to his seat and getting a glimpse of him looking and blushing at the girl. It allows the boy and girl's interaction to resonate longer with the audience and make them sense the "spark" better.

Now that the filming is done, we will be working on editing next. The biggest issue Adrian and I will have to face in our future will be cutting down the time of the commercial. When we were looking at all the footage after filming, it added up to be 47 seconds of footage.

It will be a challenge to shed 17 seconds off of our commercial, but I know we will figure it out. We have some ideas on how to shorten the video, like adding the slogan to the end of the last scene, instead of giving it its own scene. We also have some scenes in mind that we can remove. Our perspective is that it's better to have extra footage than not enough. I am very proud of our group and how much we have accomplished. We didn't get side tracked and stuck to our schedule. I can't wait to see what the end result will be!
