Creative Critical Reflection

Here is my reflection of my second AICE Media project. This music video was very fun to make. Now onto the last production!

Second Project: Done!

Image
I have finally finished my second project, a music video! Even though the commercial was extremely fun to make, I think I enjoyed making this music video more. Ever since I was young, I've admired all of my favorite artists in each of their own music videos. I've always wanted to be in one and would've thought I would accomplish that in high school? And possibly for college credit! My favorite memory from this process was filming my partner's scenes. My partner and I would get excited when we would look back at the footage because I was filming such clear and concise shots. It felt like we had improved from the last project, which made me very proud. I can't believe I am already done with two out of the three video projects. I am stoked for this last project and can feel it's going to be my best one yet!

Close Call!

Today was the last day my partner and I would have the opportunity to complete our music video. The time passed us by so quick. I feel like this project was just assigned to us recently. But nevertheless, I’ve definitely grown from and enjoyed every step of the process. Adrian and I used the same method for editing as we did last time, which was alternating the editor every few minutes. Adrian was the main editor, but when he needed a break I would take over and complete editing some scenes. I also did this when Adrian didn’t understand my vision very clearly, which saved time and confusion. Additionally, I made sure to keep the group on schedule and make sure the video is completed today.  In the last day of editing, my partner and I began in our first period class. Our teacher gave us an independent study period to complete any missing work, so we took this opportunity to edit. At first, this started out rocky because there were many distractions, specifically other students making d

First Step of the Last Step

It’s finally here, my favorite step of the video making process: editing. Our second project is close to its finale, but the video is nowhere near done. Now we begin the first step of the last step.  My partner, Adrian used his phone to edit because he is the tech savvy person in the group. While Adrian gathered all of the footage and music file on his editing app, I prepared myself to coach him through what the video should look like. With the help of the storyboard, I was informing Adrian of scene placements, where to add slow motion effects, and where each scene should cut.  Although editing may seem like an uneventful process, there are hard obstacles that had to be tackled. What makes the music video mode difficult than the commercial is lining up the music with the footage. In most of the scenes filmed, the actors are lip-synching to the song. That means the editing has to be very precise and everything must be planned out concisely. There is not much room or time to make mistake

Second Day is a Success

It was decided that Adrian would come over for another recording day after the last one didn’t go so well. Today was a major improvement from the first filming day. The schedule that we devised helped us stay on schedule and prevented us from getting distracted. It set goals for us to follow, making us realize we should make a schedule for actual filming days for future projects.  Adrian came over around 5:30 pm, after school, and we got to work immediately. At first, we were worried about the lighting outside. Around this time of year, the sun sets early and we didn’t know if we could in the dark. However, the shots came out nice at night because I have a ring-light. The ring-light didn’t give us any trouble today because we learned how to operate it the previous filming day. But, my partner and I decided that the sunset could be a symbolic feature of the music video.  The boy was pleading with the girl to give him another chance, telling her how much he misses her. However, in their

Epic Fail Turns Into Good Lesson

Today, Adrian came over my house to begin filming the first few scenes of our commercial. We both had big ideas and expectations for the filming day. However, it was not a smooth day and nothing went according to plan. For starters, it was a cloudy afternoon and there was unexpected rain. This was very disappointing because half of the music video, Adrian's scenes, takes place outside. Therefore, we had to follow our back-up plan and reschedule a day to film those scenes. I didn't want the time to go to waste, so I suggested we just film the inside scenes, my scenes, for the day.  There were obstacles we ran into during filming my scenes as well. The plan was to use my ring-light for better lighting, but it was difficult to use and was a distraction. The speaker that we brought to play the song died fast, so we had to unexpectedly play the song on our phones. I couldn't control my laughter when acting in the music video, making us waste time. Overall, the production proces
