My partner and I have decided to do the song “Meet Me Halfway” by the Black Eyed Peas. This song would most accurately fall under the genre of R&B, or Rhythm and Blues. R&B includes elements of pop, soul , funk, and hip-hop. Some features commonly featured in R&B music videos include: Costumes / Make -up : > Women wear minimal clothing to make themselves more attractive to male audiences > Women wear l ots of accessories, like high heels and jewelry, and non - cheap clothing to show their audience they are desirable. > Women have perfect make-up and hair, to give them a goddess effect and support the idea that they are perfect > Clothing for females in slow paced songs are usually plain and the make-up is natural, to give the artist a natural goddess appearance. > Males are usually topless to appeal to female audience. They also often have tattoos ...
I just watched US, directed Jordyn Peele, as a part of my genre research. After researching the codes and conventions for the horror genre, I couldn't help but spot a lot of them in this movie. This movie used costumes to differentiate between the good guys and the villain's. When the audience sees someone wearing a red jumpsuit, they knew who was the doppelganger. This detail becomes important towards the end of the movie, when the mom's reveal that their roles are switched. Lighting is an important factor in creating the movie's suspense. The actors also don't know what's lurking in the shadows too, so the audience feeds off of the actor's "fear." I also thought the use of minimal make-up in the movie was a different approach, since many horror movies use make-up for ghosts and ghouls. I think this movie wanted to look as real as possible in orde...
Today was the second and last day to edit my commercial. I was very excited to put the final touches and finally get this project completed. The last two issues to conquer in our editing process was the time and the slogan. First, my partner and I had to find a way to trim 17 seconds off. I began by trimming the unnecessary seconds in the beginning and end of some takes. There was so much excess because we wanted to make sure nothing was cut out, so we started the shot about 2 seconds earlier and ended the shot 2 seconds later. This, however, did not suffice and we were down to only about 38 seconds. Then, I suggested taking out certain scenes that were not necessary to the story. For instance, I took an extra scene of the boy walking to his seat. I decided this wasn't needed because we have a close-up shot and tracking shot that also shows the boy walking to his seat. I also suggested to Adrian that we take out some footage of the boy making the paper airplane. We just made sure ...
