Hello, I am Adriana Lee-Fook and I am in the 11th grade. I decided to join the AICE Media Studies class because I found it to be a unique class, compared to my other ones. I have a friend who took this class last year and was filming a project. She asked me to be an actor in said project and informed about what the class entails. She explained to me that this class teaches students about the processes that goes into making a film. She also explained how the students actually learn how to make a film and make films of their own. I thought this was very cool and became instantly interested.
I have always been interested in the film and acting industry. This is because I enjoy doing musical theatre as a hobby, along with other things like softball and painting. I have been doing musical theatre since I was 8 years old, always being in love with being on stage and in the spotlight. I have been in plays like Little Shop of Horrors, Once On This Island, Suessical the Musical and Aladdin. Acting has been something I've dreamt about doing since I was younger and I believe learning about the film making process will be of great interest to me.
I also spend a majority of my afternoons and weekends watching different television shows and movies. When I am watching TV, it transports me into another world. For my favorite pieces, I actually find myself feeling sort of depressed when I finish the movie or show. I always wish I could experience watching it for the first time again and again. One of my favorite shows is the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix. I found the way they showed the witches using their magic very fascinating and clever. Also, the way they conveyed such intense emotions and conflicts between characters in the show made me develop a connection with them. I would actually get stressed out when something wasn't going Sabrina's way. I would love to learn how a film could create such feelings and connections with its audience.
